Cambridge International Diploma for Teaching and Learning (CIDTL)
Teaching and learning in the 21st century is an exciting area to explore. Advances in technology, communication methods and behavioural science has changed the landscape of teaching and learning. To that end, KDU is committed to update and equip all our academic staff with the latest in teaching and learning practices.

At KDU, academic staff are encouraged to pursue the Cambridge International Diploma for Teaching and Learning (CIDTL). It is a programme designed to help teachers develop their professional thinking and practice; to enhance the quality of their teaching and learning. This is done through critical reflection and peer learning. The reflexivity process is enriched through critical engagement of new ideas or approaches and introspective thought.

Designed for practising teachers, CIDTL is facilitated by trained and qualified facilitators from the Teaching and Learning Centre. During the programme, facilitators focus on the development of knowledge, skills and understanding in the key aspects of teaching and learning.

The Cambridge International Diploma for Teaching and Learning (CIDTL) is offered at KDU College, Damansara Jaya.

The following are some of the testimonials about the CIDTT programme at KDU, expressed by our current or previous CIDTT candidates.

Ms Janicia Siding, Teacher at Sekolah Sri Sempurna, Kuala Lumpur:

This programme has changes my perspective as a teacher. I will absolutely recommend this programme to others so that they will also experience the same thing as I have. I believe that many productive teachers will be produced from this programme.

The presentation was awesome especially when we get to practice what we have learnt. The trainers have done a good job. The different approach and guidance by the trainers are very good. Even though they are different but at the end, all the information are useful. I am so glad that I have learnt a lot of new things in this programme such as the computer technologies that is very much related to my profession and I really hope that I can apply them when I teach.

Overall, the content made us really think on how to be a good teacher. How do we adapt ourselves to the world that is getting more and more advance so that education will be improved. Thanks KDU.

Mr Paul Colin Mckee, Teacher at Songhkla International School, Hat-Yai, Songhkla, Thailand:

Many of my friends in the profession are in need of enhancing their teaching skills. This program not only reinforces the basics but also instils a need and a motivation to better the art of enjoying teaching. The course gave me motivation and encouragement . Each and every teacher linked well. The lessons were fluent and taught in a way that was understandable. Many of the notes and important information was later sent over the net. I was very pleased with the structure of the programme.

There was a warm and friendly atmosphere every Saturday. I enjoyed the relaxed and unintimidating approach from the teachers. It was nice to know that in the CIDTT program there was "No I IN TEAM" Everyone was involved at all stages. Many Thanks again team. Well done.

Mr Ahmed Bashe , Lecturer at Abaarso Tech University in Hargeisa, Somaliland:

Highly useful for people new to teaching as myself, a matter I feel should be highlighted as not only would people with teaching experience gain from this course, but that it would serve an equal or perhaps even greater purpose to those who are new to the field of teaching and training. The programme gives a new dimension to how teaching needs to be in today's modern environment. The emphasis on active learning is key to being a better teacher, and the course's emphasis on this is what would encourage others to take this course.

Excellent in approach and trainers’ engagement with audience was top-notch! Hope further courses continue in such vein. Highly skilled trainers in engaging with the course participants plus the long-term commitment generated by the trainers to assist the trainees in their continued professional development - even past the completion of the CIDTT course.

Ms Kothai Chidambaram , Teacher at elc International School, Cyberjaya:

Modules were divided by content systematically. Trainers were very enthusiastic. A diverse group of trainers offered their respective expertise in different modules. Lesson practices were recorded on video for self-evaluation. Small number of participants in class - suitable, comfortable and interactive.”

“[The programme is very useful for professional teachers as it assists them in including active learning in their lessons. It also provides more hands-on ideas on various class management issues. It gives a clear picture about assessments and on-going development in our career. On the whole, it will give a complete idea on how to be a better teacher.”

Mr Chew Phye Ken, Lecturer at KDU College, Damansara Jaya:

All teaching staff should go through this programme. I have already implemented some of what I have learnt with positive results.
