Accounting Quiz 2016 An Annual KDU Signature Event

How would one know his or her accounting knowledge is sharp and well defined?

The KDU Accounting Quiz, held on 23 July at KDU University College, saw 68 elite students from 20 high schools in the Klang Valley, gathering to prove their mettle in this challenge of speed and accuracy!

Comprising of 4 rounds, participants had to answer over 90 multiple choice questions within the shortest time possible. With very little time, these secondary students were stretched in their mental accounting capacity.

Organised by KDU UC’s School of Business (SoB) and the National Marketing Department, the quiz is an annual KDU signature event, which aims to help Form 5 or 12th Grade students prep for their impending accounting paper trial and examination.

There are 3 participants to a team. Beginning with Session 1, every participant in a team is required to write their answers to 30 questions. The total score will then be based on the combined score of all 3 team members. Followed by immediately by Session 2, which is a quickest-to-answer race against 3 teams where the top 9 scorers will proceed to the semi-final round.  Competing with same mechanism, the semi-finalists and finalists will have to do battle with each other to become champion.

For this year, it was Sai Yin Chen, Tee Miao Xin and Najmi bin Husaini from Sri Kuala Lumpur School, who finally emerged as the winners who walked away with a cash prize of RM2,000. To top it off, Sai Yin Chen was also elected as the Best Scorer for the Written Test segment, netting himself another cool RM300 in cash.

The 1st Runner-Up team hailing from Chong Hwa Independent High School, comprising of Tan Shi Kin, Tan Chin Tung and Boris Lim Yong Han took home RM1,500; whilst 2nd Runner-Up team from SMJK Katholik comprising of Peh Qi Hui, Tan Liang Jun and Ooi Wai Lun bagged RM1,000.

Winners received their prizes from the Head of School of Business, Associate Professor Dr Ng Mei-Ling.
