BRINGING KDU University College 2014 Sports Carnival

Kuala Lumpur, 11 August 2014: KDU University College organised its final Sports Carnival at its Damansara Jaya Campus. Organised by the KDU University College Sports club with the support of the Student & Alumni Centre, the Sports Carnival in 2014 featured a number of new games as well as collaborations with a number of partners to spice things up. The students and staff were divided in to four separate houses to compete in nine different sports events to determine not only which house would be the champion of 2014 but also who would emerge as the best sportsman and woman among the students and staff. There was a sponsors galore this year with Adidas, GenYes, and Hasbro Malaysia coming in to support of this year’s event.

The Red (School of Business and Law), Green (Schools of Communications and Creative Arts and the School of Computing and Creative Media), Blue (School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts) and Yellow houses (School of Pre-University Studies, School of Engineering, and Support Departments) competed against each other for places on the podium in Badminton, Netball, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball, Futsal, with two new competitions entering this year’s line-up: Digital Games and Nerf.

Suffice to say that the competitions were heated throughout, with players giving their utmost in every competition. The final standing at the closing ceremony saw Red House finishing with 59 points, followed by Yellow House with 37 points. Coming in third and fourth were Blue and Green houses with 31 and 17 points respectively Based upon their overall performance during the event, the award for best staff sportsperson was Mr. Hor Kok Teng, a lecturer from Blue House while the best student sportsman award was taken by Lim Su Xian of Red House., Best student sportswoman was Lai Yi Ching of Yellow House. Most of the staff and students are now looking forward to have the 2015 Sports Carnival at the Glenmarie campus.
