 The first batch of the KDU University College, Bachelor of Business (Hons) graduation day. Congratulations graduates! Your brilliant achievement is very admirable.
KDU University College recorded another new milestone with the first batch of 12 graduates in Bachelor of Business (Hons) through franchise collaboration with the Riam Institute of Technology (RiamTec). As the first franchised programme offered in East Malaysia, KDU University College aims to provide an opportunity to the local community to further up their study and to be prepare themselves for the challenging and evolving market specs.

The Bachelor of Business (Hons) programme offers a unique experiential and practical learning experience, through curriculum builds upon developing students’ soft skills such as communication, interpersonal, leadership, and entrepreneurship to prepare them for the unforeseen employment market.

During the RiamTec’s 20th graduation ceremony, the RiamTec Executive Chairman Dato’ Dr Fong Onn Min said, “RiamTec has made history with its first batch of 12 graduates in Bachelor of Business (Hons).During my younger days, there were limited options for further studies. Today, with the unlimited options of overseas or locally, youths can have a brighter future given by the opportunity to have their talents being nurtured.”

KDU has been established 35 years ago, with the aim to provide and affordable education opportunity to local Malaysians who did not managed to get a spot in local universities, and was unable to pursue tertiary education overseas due to financial constraints. “With the similar educational purpose and business philosophy that KDU and RiamTec shares, we both came together and discussed on how to better provide tertiary education opportunity to the locals in East Malaysia. This happened 5 years ago. And today, we witness the first batch of graduates with pride and hopeful,” said Associate Professor Dr Hon Wei Min, the Deputy Vice Chancelor – Academics of KDU University College.

Among the 328 graduands of the RiamTec 20th graduation ceremony, Ms Emily Sim from the KDU University College’s Bachelor of Business (Hons) programme also the recipient of the Deputy Executive Chairman’s Award. Emily has not just excelled in academic results, she also demonstrated strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills by leading her team to win the KDU School of Business’ STAR Grand Finale competition at its main campus in Utropolis Glenmarie, Shah Alam.  In her 16-weeks of internship with EPISO Group of Companies, she impressed her supervisors and co-workers as a very competent, positive, and responsible person.  With all these admirable qualities, Emily was offered a full-time position in EPISO Group of Companies before she graduated. As an outstanding achiever, she is also been offered a scholarship to pursue a postgraduate master programme at KDU University College. “The knowledge and skills acquired for the past two years have molded me into a better person and helped me to secure a better job. In short, the programme is challenging, but rewarding at the same time,” said Emily.
 
Among the guests present to witness the first batch of Bachelor of Business (Hons) graduands include the Sarawak’s Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Miri MP Dr Teo Yu Keng, Chairman of RiamTec, Dato’ Sri Law Kiu Kiong; Deputy Chairman of RiamTec, Dato’ Sri Lau Hieng Su and CEO of RiamTec John Wong.
