An Industrial Visit To PR And Marketing Agency

Field study provides student with an opportunity to apply the knowledge they have learned in the classroom. This will definitely promote a deeper understanding of the subject being studies by involving themselves with the real situation in the field.

In enabling final year students who are pursuing Bachelor of Communication (Hons) degree in KDU University College get well prepared for the real world, the Student and Alumni Centre (SAC) had recently organised an industry visit to Text100, a global public relations and marketing agency which located in Northpoint Mid Valley.

On 31 October 2017, a group of 24 students who participated in this visit were accompanied by Ms Murina Rose binti Pawanteh and Ms Karamjeet Kaur, lecturers from The School of Communication and Creative Arts (SCCA).

 “This visit is initiated under KDU Career Exploration, a programme specially designed by SAC in supporting and facilitating KDU graduates to develop their skills, abilities, and passion for future career life. As this group of participants are mainly students who specialising in crisis communication and corporate communication, hence we believe by getting students exposed to the working culture in public relations agency will allow them to acquire real-time knowledge from the real industry players,” said Mr Mitchell Liong Chee Chiun, Senior Manager of SAC.

In its portfolio, Text100 has worked with a variety of clients across multiple industries comprises of healthcare, F&B and entertainment just to name a few. The field study started off with an introductory session by Radiance Leong, the Senior Director of the company who did a ‘credentials deck’ presentation for the students on their best achievements and also projects that they had accomplished.  

Followed by that, two other speakers shared their real experiences on how they dealt with the certain crisis that took place in the past. These real case study sessions sparked students’ interests the most, as they raised numerous questions for the speakers and found an endless topic to be elaborated and further discussed.

After two hours of dynamic interaction, the industry visit eventually called it a day when all questions being answered. Students headed back to their campus with bountiful of new knowledge and full sense of contentment.
