KDU was recently awarded the Bronze Putra Brand Awards for 2017 under the category of Education and Learning; a coup d'état which demonstrates the Malaysian consumers’ profound appreciation and endorsement towards the institution’s commitment to its brand and academic excellence. For the eight consecutive years, the Putra Brand Awards has been the premier brand awards in Malaysia that recognises brand building as an integral business investment, measured by consumer preference. KDU is honoured to have received such a prestigious award based on the Malaysians’ votes.

The accolade was presented to Prof Dr Hiew Pang Leang, the Vice Chancellor of KDU University College by Steven Choo, 4As Council Member and Chong Teck Hiong, the Group Director of Media Sales of Astro. It was indeed a proud and momentous moment for KDU to win the Bronze Award under the category of Education and Learning by the Putra Brand Awards, commonly referred to as ‘the People’s Choice Award”, which is strictly based on the highest number of votes in each category by the Malaysian consumers for their favourite brands.

This year, 39 Gold, 40 Silver, and 51 Bronze awards were presented to brands in the various categories, together with five special awards.

"In a broad sense, the Putra Brand Awards is an opportunity to shape the customer’s journey through the brand's various modes of communications and fully engage consumers with the brand," believes Dato’ Johnny Mun, Organising Chairman of the Putra Brand Awards. "This is crucial because all forms of communication must be relevant and integrated with a customer’s journey.”

Commenting on the win of the Bronze Award in the Education and Learning category, Prof Hiew Pang Leang said, “KDU winning the Putra Brand Awards is a testament to our focus in various aspects not just in terms of the knowledge mastery, but also in terms of the holistic education and branding to ensure the credibility of this institution is well established for nurturing and growing our children to be future leaders and future entrepreneurs who will be the driving force of success in the world that we live in. KDU is now part of a large education provider group that is offering education related services ranging from pre-school, kindergarten, thru to tertiary education, adult education, professional training and certification.”

According to Sheikh Fahmy Bin Sheikh Mohamed, the Chief Marketing Officer of KDU University College, “KDU has developed a new strategy for branding in 2017, we have invested the effort to understand the target market, the right platforms and the right messaging to engage with our current and prospective audience. We believe, with the right strategy and initiatives, it will elevate KDU’s brand positioning to a higher level. Let’s look forward to a greater 2018!” It is hoped that the award given by fellow Malaysians to KDU would inspire greater influence and impact in making KDU as one of the greatest pioneers of the Malaysian private higher education scene.
