In hopes to inspire fitness into students’ daily life, the All Star Sports Club organised KDU Fitspiration Badminton and Basketball Tournament 2017 on the 14 and 15 July 2017, at the Multi-Purpose Court of KDU University Glenmarie Campus and at the Auditorium of KDU College Damansara Jaya Campus.

There were seven teams contested in the basketball tournament; and 40 participants for badminton tournament, which divided into categories of Men Single, Women Single, Men Double, Women Double and Mix Double.

According to the organiser, the sports event aimed to cultivate new talents for the sports field, and identify them to form KDU team for external tournaments in near future. Apart from that, it also provided the student-organising committee an opportunity to lead, to facilitate teamwork and to display management skills throughout the process.

Out of seven teams that participated in the basketball tournament, team ‘Chaplang Kids’ and ‘Jav2017’ had qualified for the final match. In fact, the battle between these two teams was very much heart-pumping, as some of the players had impressively controlled the tempo of the game and inject the adrenaline rush into the audience. As the results, Team Chaplang Kids defeated its opponent by the score of 13-11 and crowned Champion of the tournament.

Whereas in the badminton tournament, Eugene Hong Shin, a Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Hons) student, won the most notable badminton men’s single category. He believes that sports event as such should be held more regularly as it contributed in promoting a healthy lifestyle and in identifying new talents among students.
All winners in these two tournaments had not only received a piece of special edition ‘Champion Fitspiration’ T-shirt but were also selected to form KDU teams for external sports events. They are looking forward to train themselves harder in order to win the upcoming tournaments.

All in all, students who participated in or organised KDU Fitspiration Badminton and Basketball Tournament 2017, had demonstrated athleticism in each and every one of them. Such spirit and enthusiasm of sportsmanship had gained them precious experiences in their study life in KDU and also given a positive impact towards their development.
