KDU University College recently held its annual KDU Vice Chancellor Cup Futsal Tournament, as one of its initiatives in supporting the movement of Fit Malaysia. The tournament also served as a platform to discover new talents, and for the organising committee to display their leadership and teamwork skills and experience organising a sports event.

The one-day tournament was held on 10 September at Sports Planet Kota Damansara, and saw participation from 17 teams from different institutions such as Taylor’s College, Management and Science University (MSU), International Medical University (IMU) and others, with various creative and funky names such as Gilerfutsal, Out FC, Taylor’s Team, Kuey Teow Kerang FC, Pemuda FC, Ally FC, Kingsman, UCSI Team, Oman FC, Super Fruende and so on.
The 17 futsal teams were divided into 4 groups for the preliminary round, in order to eliminate teams for the quarter final. As all teams agreed to adjourn straight into semi-final, players had a short 15-minute break after the preliminary games, in order to re-set and get the order right.
The finals were between team Super Freunde from INTI College and team Kuey Teow Kerang from MSU. As the final round ended, team Kuey Teow Kerang emerged as the champion, Super Freunde as 1st Runner Up followed by Pemuda FC as 2nd Runner Up.
All winners received KDU Vice Chancellor Cup Futsal Tournament medals from Mr Mitchell Liong Chee Chiun, the Senior Manager of KDU Student and Alumni Centre. The champion team walked away with a cash prize of RM2000, the 1st Runner Up with RM1500 and 2nd Runner Up RM 1000.
