Entertaining Semi Final Match between Linton University vs Black Pearl (UNITEN). The Champions of KDU Vice Chancellor Cup Futsal Tournament 2018.
On the 7 April 2018, KDU University College had once again organised it's very own KDU Vice Chancellor Cup Futsal Tournament as one of the initiatives to support the movement of Fit Malaysia. Through the existence of this tournament, it is deemed as a platform to discover new talents as well as providing an opportunity for the Organising Committee to display their leadership and teamwork skills while eventually giving experience in organising a sports event.
KDU Vice Chancellor Cup Futsal Tournament is essentially a one-day tournament which kicked off at 9.00 am and ended approximately around 3.00 pm. The event took place at Futsal Centre Extreme Park Shah Alam. The tournament is an inter-varsity futsal tournament in which a roundup of 16 teams were gathered from all across different institutions such as Linton University College, Brickfields Asia College, UCSI University, and many others. The committee members started setting up the registration counter and made the preparation for the tournament around 7.45 am as the call time for the event is around 7.30 am. They later proceeded with the registration session at 8.00 am as the team started to arrive. As all of the team have registered, we proceeded with a briefing session with all 16 teams (UCSI A & B, HELP University, Linton University, Monash University, BAC, KDU University College, FTMS College, First University College, TAR University College, APU University and others) and the 4 referees who were in charge of the whole tournament.
We started the game with the 16 teams divided into 4 groups for the preliminary round in order to select for the quarter-finalists. However, during the duration of the tournament, there was slight tension that occurred between BAC with TARC as the referee had miscalculated the overall score. Despite with the slight tension that occurred, the committee members as well as the referees were embracing sportsmanship and managed to settle it well while moving on to the final in which UCSI A and Linton University College battled during the final match.
As the final round ended, UCSI A team emerged as the champion with a cash token of RM800 won while Linton University took home the 1st Runner-Up title with a reward of RM500.  APU University did not lag far behind as they bagged home 2nd Runner-Up along with cash token of RM300. The prize-giving ceremony was held in the first court of Futsal Centre Extreme Park Shah Alam. As the crowd cheered, all the winners received KDU Vice Chancellor Cup Futsal Tournament medals that were presented by Mr. Ramzi Bustami from Student and Alumni Centre.
In conclusion, the whole futsal tournament, was indeed a success as it managed to gather new talents as well as creating a platform for athletic students to rejoice in the spirit of sportsmanship.
