KDU Youth Empowerment Series Transforming Students Into Adaptive Leaders

KDU Youth Empowerment Series (KYES) is a series of programme designed by Student & Alumni Centre (SAC) at KDU University College. Through KYES, SAC is passionate in providing its students and alumni the highest level of support via variety of programmes in line with Malaysia Education Blueprint.

The main focus of KYES is empowering clubs and societies, by driving soft skills development of its members. On top of that, KYES is also providing a platform for effective learning to transform KDU students from core leaders to adaptive leaders for the future.

Comprises of 6 series in total, KYES aimed to shape KDU students with management skills, creative problem solving skills, leadership skills as well as critical and reflective thinking skills.

KYES Volume 1 was held 18 March and 20 May 2017 respectively on KDU’s Utropolis Glenmarie campus. It was started with an introduction of the topic ‘Clubs and Societies Management’ by Ms Sharifah Azura, SAC’s Assistant Manager. This followed by welcome remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hon Wei Min, Deputy Vice Chancellor of KDU University College.

The programme run down was then continued with variety of workshops such as The Arts of Interpersonal and Dynamic Communication by Leaderonomics; 10 Principles of Effective and Authentic Leadership by Mr Idzham Moslim, CEO of Selangor Youth Community; and What Is NGO Up To? The Journey to Enlighten by Mr Charles Mohan, CEO of Institut Onn Jaafar.

Over all, KYES Volume 1 gained good feedback from the participants. Amirul Anas Bin Abdul Aziz, Director of Moot Division under KDU Law Society said, “KYES is a good platform for members of clubs and societies in order to understand the procedures of clubs management.”

Vinccie Ong, Sectary of Stars Club mentioned, “It is very helpful for our club and we are glad to have so much information and be able to apply for our clubs operation.”
