KDU Youth Stand Together To Protect The Mother Nature In 'Shah Alam Trees Of Life & Community Painting'

A group of KDU volunteer students and staff committed in created Shah Alam a greener city. Briefing with volunteers on the right methods to plant a tree. 
KDU staff whom volunteered by supporting the initiative in plating the trees along pedestrian route at the Taman Tasik Shah Alam. Volunteered KDU’s student get the hand dirty for a greener tomorrow.
There are many ways through which we all can contribute in the protection and conservation of species and keeping the earth clean. We should also try to lessen the use of natural resources so that there will be enough resources for the coming generation as well. Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) has organised a tree planting program called “Shah Alam Trees of Life and Community Painting 2018” on 29th September 2018. This event took place at Tasik Timur, Taman Tasik Shah Alam, Shah Alam, Selangor. KDU collaborated together with MBSA and UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd in making Shah Alam as a whole a low carbon city by 2030. 

The opening ceremony was officiated by MBSA Council Member, Papparaidu @ Raidu Veraman and attended by UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd Head of Services and Management, Muzafar Munzir.

A total of 4,337 trees were planted around the green area around the Tasik Timur pedestrian route in Taman Tasik Shah Alam. There were variety of plants planted such as Plumeria Rubra, Annona Muricata, Excoecaria Spp, Justicia Gendarussa, Allamanda Cathartica and Cordyline Fruticose.

Head of Corporate and Public Relations Division MBSA, Mr Shahrin Ahmand, said , “The program at Taman Tasik Shah Alam was an initiative to make the city of Shah Alam a greener place. Hence, UMW have also donated an amount of RM25, 000 in making this visions and missions’ success”. 

There were 230 volunteer participants comprising of KDU University College students and staff, employees of UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd, LF Logistics Services (M) Sdn Bhd, MBSA staff, Eco-warrior, Sekolah Bestari Subang Bestari 2, and individual volunteers whom participated in this event. Demonstrations are carried out by the conservation groups at various levels in the form of how to plant a tree and discussions by the eminent personalities.

According to Huzaifah Iqbal, one of the KDU student volunteer from Pakistan, “This initiative by KDU allowed the students to not only be active but to be part of an important cause.”

We should all stand together to save our planet earth. It is a pivotal opportunity for individuals, corporations & government to come forward and join hands to create a new global green economy. It is a day to think of the environmental challenges we face and how to solve them. It is the duty of all human beings and all countries to protect the earth responsibility. All together, we can make a difference on protecting the nature.
