Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad, sharing his vast experience in the industry and spoke on entrepreneurship as well with the students. Ibrahimnuddin was a cool sport; posing and laughing along with the flock of students he inspired with his talk.
SHAH ALAM, 8 June 2015 – Students of KDU University College were given a real treat recently; a meeting with a CEO from one of the nation’s top national entity where the students had the opportunity to engage the speaker on his strategies, outlook and thoughts in helming an organisation.

The stellar speaker was none other than Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad; the domestic marketing arm of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS).

Hosted by the KDU School of Business, in collaboration with The Edge, the event ‘The Edge Billion Ringgit Club – Meet the CEO’ had taken place on 29 May 2015 at KDU’s brand new flagship campus in Utropolis, Glenmarie.

This event is part of KDU’s initiative to expose students to captains of the industry that could provide them invaluable insight on the industry’s currents, and resonates the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015 -2025 Higher Education’s ‘CEO Faculty Programme’, which plans to bring successful senior industry leaders to teach in Higher Learning Institutions with the aim of producing holistic and balanced graduates with an entrepreneurial mind. Studies has proven that graduates with an entrepreneurial mind acquire qualities of boldness and daring in their personalities and are able to make a breakthrough during difficulties. They are also more adaptable, innovative and skilful in problem solving. Most importantly, students who own a spirit of entrepreneurship are irresistible to future employers.

Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, 51, shared his experience working in PETRONAS as well as the economic changes in the surrounding environment and the challenges he faced. He also stressed on the important qualities of an entrepreneurial student, one being the determination to succeed and not letting failures hindering one’s goal and ambition.

“In my journey to become a CEO, I failed many times but did not give up.” He advised the students, “You will fail and there is no easy path to success, but don’t give up. There is always room for improvement to make everyone better.”

Ibrahimnuddin serves as Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director and Executive Director of Petronas Dagangan Berhad since February 1 2014, and has been with PETRONAS for 27 years and has held several senior management positions prior to his current appointment. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from York University, Ontario, Canada.

The atmosphere was light and casual, stark contrast to the rich information he shared humbly with the eager and thirsty young minds in the room. Participants actively interacted with Ibrahimnuddin by throwing questions and he responded generously and did not shy away when approached by the students for a ‘wefie’.

Events such as this are part of KDU’s initiatives in inculcating the spirit of entrepreneurship in its students. The education institution incorporates Entrepreneurship into its curriculum, offering students real world education with an aim to enable students to complete their tertiary education with a distinctive edge towards employability and hit the ground running upon graduation.

Taking real-world experience further, KDU University College has set up its own Entrepreneur Lab, which is designed specifically for students to work in teams, enabling them to utilise a business simulator programme developed by the Malaysia Practice Enterprise Centre (MyPEC).
