In light of the celebration of the Lunar New Year of Dog, 13 pet dogs owners joyfully walked away with cash prizes and festive hampers from KDU University College at its flagship campus in Utropolis, Glenmarie; thanks to the Facebook viewers who flooded them with ‘Likes’ in an attempt to find the most adorable pet dog photos with their masters in a selfie.

The competition spanned from 8 January to 7 February 2018, with participants sending in selfies of them with their pet dogs. The photos were then posted up to KDU official Facebook page, where the social media communities gave their ‘Likes’ to their favoured pictures and eventually determined the winners with most ‘Like’ counts.

Among hundred submissions which mainly came from teenagers in the Klang Valley areas, the top 13 entries with most ‘Like’ counts finally declared as the winners for this inaugural contest in the history of KDU since its establishment in the year 1983.

At a simple prize giving ceremony held 12 February at KDU main campus, winners were crowned and celebrated as they received their prizes from Ms Jess Lee Chai Ling, the Manager of Enrolment Service, Business Development & Marketing Division, KDU University College. Also witnessing the prize giving ceremony was Mr Sheikh Fahmy bin Sheikh Mohamed, Chief Marketing Officer of KDU University College.

Applauded and congratulated by KDU’s staffs, the winners were then invited for a group photography session with the team as a symbol of celebrating the happy Lunar New Year together. The photo session took place at the main lobby of KDU University College, with a backdrop which fully decorated by the selfies of the contestants that are made into greeting cards.

Despite winning First Prize came as a shock to her, Nicole Tan Qian Wen, a Diploma in Business Administration student in KDU, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her friend’s craziness by lobbying ‘Like’ from the shoppers in a shopping mall. “Sometimes you just need to have ‘crazy’ friends who make things works! I think if, without her efforts, I wouldn’t have gotten the first prize in this contest,” said Nicole in her cheerful smile.
