SHAH ALAM, 4 th AUGUST 2015 - In a bid to promote a balanced study and sports life, KDU University College and Adidas Malaysia Sdn Bhd collaborated in making this vision into a reality, with its Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony held yesterday at KDU’s iconic Utropolis Glenmarie campus. The event saw the attendance YB Tuan Amirudin Shari, the State Executive Councillor in charge of Youth Development, Sports, Cultural and Entrepreneurship Development, as well as representatives from both KDU and Adidas.

KDU prides itself in being a premier tertiary education provider and advocating student experiences beyond the classroom. Professor Khong Yoon Loong, KDU’s Vice Chancellor, expressed, “This unique academic-industry collaboration is to realise our stance that KDU is a real-world university. While consistently providing great quality learning experiences, we strive to always provide room for education outside of the classroom. “

Mr. Max An, the Country General Manager of Adidas Malaysia, noted that Adidas’ key role in this collaboration is to ensure that students are geared with the right tools and kits when undertaking a sports activity. Stressing on the importance of being equipped with the appropriate tools and kits as essential for sports performance, the collaboration sees Adidas’ participation in tactical sponsorship towards KDU’s sports events, as well as sponsorship of sports jerseys for all of KDU’s sports teams.

“Adidas is proud to come together with this unique collaboration and work towards a common goal of facilitating a balance lifestyle for the youth,” stated An during his speech at the signing ceremony.

“We are confident that through commitment, we are able to broaden partnerships and look forward to ensuring successful implementation of this MOU.”

In addition to that, the collaboration will see the establishment of an Adidas kiosk on KDU’s Utropolis Glenmarie campus, where students are able to purchase Adidas’ sporting gears at preferential prices. YB Tuan Amirudin Shari noted, “Sports is a universal language that everyone speaks. It unites all humanities from all differences; coming together for a single purpose, that is to play the game and to enjoy the game they love.”

Acknowledging KDU as a higher education institution that provides a holistic education, he further stressed the importance for students of all ages to have access to sports and games.

“In the quest of promoting a balanced study and sports life, I would like to congratulate KDU University College for its collaboration with its academic initiative partner, Adidas Malaysia. Through this collaboration, not only does it empower students to inject sports and fitness into their lifestyles, but it also motivates the students to be self-disciplined in sports, which can be translated into their studies as well, which pushes them to be disciplined and earn better grades academically.”

The ceremony then took a more vibrant atmosphere with a fashion show by KDU students clad in the new AdidasXKDU apparels that are soon to be available at the kiosk on campus. Trendy and practical, much like all other Adidas’ quality gears, the hall was buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the launch of the apparels and goods line under this collaboration
